OUR HISTORY
Soldiers Field golf course was first developed in 1925, became a city course in 1927 and has remained so ever since. To start, the course consisted of just six holes. It soon got expanded to nine holes, all with sand greens. Later on it became a full 18 holes with bent grass greens, designed by Hugh Vincent Feehan. Soldiers Field was the first municipal 18-hole course built in outstate Minnesota. The first pro was eventually hired in 1929, Herb Thienell, and the rest was history. Soldiers Field currently sits quite similar to its original 18 hole design, offering a timeless experience.
